Founder of the Abortion Pill Reversal Program
George Delgado, M.D., is the president and founder of the Steno Institute and a nationally recognized pro-life physician. Since 2005, he has served as Medical Director of Culture of Life Family Services in San Diego and is the founder of the Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) program—now Abortion Pill Rescue—which uses a medically safe progesterone protocol to counteract mifepristone. Developed and studied by Dr. Delgado and his team, the APR protocol has resulted in the birth of over 5,000 healthy babies since 2008. In 2018, Heartbeat International assumed global APR operations, while Dr. Delgado retained leadership of APR research through the Steno Institute.
Board-certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Delgado earned his medical degree from UC Davis and completed residency training at Santa Monica Hospital/UCLA. He is widely published in the medical literature on abortion pill reversal and holds certifications in health care ethics and natural family planning. His contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the St. Gianna Molla Pro-Life Award, Heartbeat International’s Servant Leader Award, Solidarity HealthShare’s Pro-Life Innovator Award, and the Catholic Medical Association’s Evangelium Vitae Award.
